This watch has prolonged my life. E-pill CADEX helps me in remembering my medications and when to take them, but e-pill also helps me in remembering my daily routine of activities that I do. My mom does not like anything that you really have to "figure out" so I was a little leary about sending it to her without me figuring it out first and then sending it to her (I live in Seattle and she lives in St. Joseph, Missouri). But I was pleasantly surprised that when she received it, she figured it out herself. This has been so nice for her to have, she had been having a lot of trouble remembering to take her afternoon and evening pills but now, with this vibrating pill box, she has hardly missed a dosage. I gave it five stars because it was easy for her to set up by herself, it's been constant and has had no problems. It also takes a lot of worry off my shoulders that she has not been taking the medicine the way she should, so I know if she has this with her that she will take it 98% of the time. Of course she takes so many pills that they would not fit in the pill compartment but she just keeps her big pill dispenser with it all the times. It's great to have, especially for the senior in your life that might be having some memory problems OR even the extremely busy person that needs to take an afternoon or evening pill and keeps forgetting - I plan to order one for myself just for that reason. It works great, she calls it her little drum. F. Rojas This thing (MD.2) is great. We bought it in December 2007 because my mom was probably not taking her medications as directed. Just as importantly, though, she was getting very stressed about whether she was taking what she should because she is aware enough to be concerned. Whenever I was visiting, she would occasionally wander over to her pill bottles and start quietly going through them, reading them, worrying to herself. I hated it. I looked on the internet for an automated dispenser and found this MD2 which not only dispenses on a schedule, but calls out to my mom in a woman's voice at dose time, calls me on the phone(!) if my mom misses a dose (only once so far) or when the machine is running low on meds (every Thursday at 8:05pm), or when the machine is completely empty (8:05pm on Sundays - I am always at my mom's house when this happens ready to refill for the next week). It has been very reliable. The machine is very easy to use for both the caregiver and for the patient. My mom trusts it and so do I. The first time going to the website to schedule the doses and the first time filling it is a little intimidating but after doing it all once, it is effortless. I go over once a week to refill the machine and it has just worked great! My mom's med schedule doesn't change so I have not had to go back to the website since the first time I set it up. Along with the medicine, I also have little notes that I put in the cup with detailed instructions for my mom. She saves the cups and notes and I just reuse them again and again which makes refilling take about 5 minutes (22 dose cups - 4 on Sundays, 3 every other day). I highly recommend this machine. Initially I wondered about the price but now that we have bought it, I would do it again in a second ($800 including fast shipping). My mom loves it and regularly brings up how great it is in conversation and thanks me a often for getting it. Aside from actually taking what she should, she does not worry about her meds any more and that is the part I like most. Bob from VA This watch is absolutely amazing. My Mom has Alzheimers and I started out with your usual pill container with the Letters on the top S-M-T-W-T-F-S. Well, I could never have pills in two "S" containers or two "T" containers which left me filling the pill containers on Sunday and again on Thursday so she didn't double dose. I would call her in the morning and my brother called her in the evening to remind her to take her pills. Recently I filled Sunday through Wednesday as per usual and my Brother me called Monday evening to say, "there are no pills". Mom says, "you forgot to fill the pill container". This wasn't good so now I was left with driving to her house two times per day and giving her the pills. In between I was searching, trying to figure out what I was going to do. I was thrilled when I found the Automatic Pill Dispenser. It works so slick! It is so easy to program. I program my moms pills for two times per day. Once this was done I didn't have to worry with the timer again except to change the time. I fill the pill container once every two weeks, lock it and forget it. The pill slots hold a good number of pills. Mom has 7 prescription pills besides calcium and D and they fit well, if I place them in just right. My Mom doesn't do well with alarms but there is a ratchet sound that the machine makes when it moves and she hears this and goes and takes her pills. My brother and I still call her twice a day to make sure she has taken her pills. My mother is frail but this machine isn't too heavy for her to tip to get her pills. The Automatic Pill Dispenser is sturdy so she isn't able to break it open and it is so nice to not have to worry about overdose anymore. Now Mom and I can do something beside talk about pills as there is an extra pill case to place pills in ahead so that all you have to do is trade it out. L.P.
