Today, Solvell runs GigaNano Sales & Marketing Consultants in Boston, Mass., a company providing marketing consulting services primarily to the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech industries.

He is also the founder and president of e-pill LLC (www.epill.com), a medical device company marketing a line of unique electronic medication adherence devices (e-pill® ePill® medication reminders) and orthopedic products (HIProtector® fall prevention devices) to individuals and institutions (hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, universities, CROs and HMOs) in North America. Recently e-pill’s (press, television and media coverage) innovative line of “Age-In-Place” and Baby Boomer medication adherence / patient compliance products and services have been featured on CNN Headline News, in Business Week, and Wall Street Journal. The award winning line of “e-pills” are sold to institutions (hospitals, HMOs, pharmaceutical and biotech companies), via distributors around the world and at home, patient direct on the Web.

Most recently, he was Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of EF (Education First). EF is the world’s largest language school and provider of educational travel services. At EF, he headed up the North American office in Cambridge, Mass. His responsibilities included all of North America including managing satellite offices in five locations in U.S. and Canada as well as European offices in Rome, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm, Heidelberg and London with 300 people reporting to him.

Before joining EF in 1995, he served as Senior Vice President for Astra USA, a subsidiary of what is now AstraZeneca, the British pharmaceutical company. Solvell also worked in Astra Germany (Astra Chemicals GmbH). During his 15-year career with Astra, Solvell served in many capacities. He was part of the original turn-around team that brought Astra USA from a $30-million-deficit operation to a multi-billion-dollar successful pharmaceutical company. Today, AstraZeneca is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Stefan was instrumental in organizing and training a 600-person sales force visiting doctors, dentists and hospitals in the USA. In his most recent assignment for the company he was responsible for manufacturing, quality assurance and pharmaceutical development with 400 people reporting to him.

Solvell holds a master of science degree in mechanical and naval engineering from Chalmers Institute of Technology (MSE / Civilingenjör) and a business degree (MBA / Civilekonom) from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He currently lives in Boston (Wellesley), Massachusetts.
